Should I do PRINCE2 or PMP?
People often ask whether they should pursue a PRINCE2 or PMP® certification. While both certifications are highly regarded in the project management field, they have some key differences. PRINCE2 is a structured methodology that provides a framework for managing projects in controlled environments. It focuses on organization, control, and quality throughout the lifecycle of a project and can be customized to fit the needs of your organization and the specific requirements of your project.
In contrast, the PMP® certification is based on a body of knowledge known as the PMBoK® Guide (Project Management Body of Knowledge), which describes a wide range of project management techniques and best practices. The PMP® certification focuses on the application of these techniques and practices, and it requires a minimum of 7,500 hours of project management experience and a secondary degree, or 4,500 hours of experience and a four-year degree.
Whether you choose to pursue a PRINCE2 or PMP® certification will depend on your career goals, your background and experience, and the specific requirements of your organization.
