Is program management a rewarding role?
Yes, program management can be a rewarding role. Program manager are responsible for leading and coordinating large-scale programmes of change. They require a large investment of resources and time to bring about changes within an organisation and to enable benefits to be realised which meet the organisation's strategic goals.
Program managers therefore have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the organisation, and they can receive recognition for their hard work and achievements. This is what can make programme management a rewarding role.
Conversely, a program that does not realise the expected benefits for the organisation can end up wasting the organisation's resources. This is likely to mean the program manager will suffer the stress and pressure to try to deliver benefits which are not forthcoming. In this scenario, the program management role will be far from rewarding.
