Is PgMP more difficult than PMP?

Yes, the Program Management Professional (PgMP)® certification is more difficult than the Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification. PgMP® certification requires 4 years of program management experience for 4-year degree holders whereas PMP® certification requires 3 years of project management experience for 4-year degree holders.

Since most program manager don't gain program management experience until after already obtaining project management experience, it means the requirements for PgMP® certification are usually considerably higher than PMP® for most candidates.
