Sheffield’s museums are overseen by two separate organisations. Museums Sheffield manages the Weston Park Museum (a Grade II* listed building), Millennium Galleries, and Graves Art Gallery. These museums are the city’s oldest existing museums, with the Graves Art Gallery and Weston Park Museum being gifts to the city by industrialist philanthropists in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
The Millennium Galleries, which opened in the early 2000s, is one of the city’s newest museums and is part of the Heart of the City initiative, with direct access to the Winter Garden and Millennium Square.
