Holywell Music Room is said to be Britain’s first concert hall. Oxford holds many classic and contemporary music venues. Many of its theatres are repurposed on occasion to host local and visiting orchestras. Thanks to its large student population, modern artists enjoy warm receptions and Oxford’s gig venues are often filled for visiting musicians.
