McManus Galleries, the city’s major museum and art gallery, is in Albert Square. Among the exhibitions are works by James McIntosh Patrick, Alberto Morrocco, and David McClure, as well as pieces from Dundee’s past and natural history artefacts.
Dundee Contemporary Arts (abbreviated DCA) is an international art centre in the Nethergate neighbourhood near Dundee Rep that opened in 1999 and comprises two modern art galleries, a two-screen arthouse cinema, a print studio, a visual research centre, and a café bar.

The Dundee Mountain Film Festival (DMFF), held the last weekend of November, features the best presenters and films of the year in mountaineering, mountain culture, and adventure sport, as well as an art and trade exhibition. The DMFF is also a member of the International Alliance for Mountain Film (IAMF), as well as other important international mountain film festivals.
The city also has two Multiplex cinemas, Odeon and Cineworld.

Dundee has a comprehensive repertory ensemble that was founded in 1939. One of its alumni, Hollywood actor Brian Cox, is a local. The Dundee Repertory Theatre, which opened in 1982, also serves as the home of the Scottish Dance Theatre.
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra frequently performs at Dundee’s main concert auditorium, the Caird Hall (named after its benefactor, jute baron James Key Caird) in City Square.
