Brighton is connected to the national road network by the A23, A259 and the A27.
There is ample parking space in central Brighton, with large car parks at London Road, King Street, and the Churchill Square complex.
Most trains in the city operate from Brighton railway station. Destinations include London, London Gatwick Airport, St Albans, Luton, Luton Airport Parkway and Bedford.
A wide range of long-distance destinations was served until recently when a majority of these services were cancelled permanently. Long-distance services to Bristol and Great Malvern are still operated via the West Coastway Line twice daily.
The city has 1,184 bus stops, 456 of which have a shelter. Real-time travel information displays are provided at many stops.
The only park and ride facility in Brighton is based at the Withdean Stadium. The 20-year City Plan ruled out an official park-and-ride facility, on the grounds it would be an inefficient use of public money in an era of declining car use.
Brighton Airport is west of Brighton near the town of Shoreham-by-Sea. Brighton is easily accessible through Gatwick via train.
