Buses
Britain’s first trolleybus systems opened simultaneously on June 20, 1911. The last service in Bradford and Britain—ceased operation on March 26, 1972. Ten Bradford trolleybuses are preserved at the Sandtoft Trolleybus Museum. Bradford’s municipal buses were taken over by West Yorkshire Metro in 1974. Bradford’s main bus companies are First Bradford and Arriva Yorkshire, with certain routes employing guided buses.
Rail
The West Yorkshire Metro includes the Forster Square and Bradford Interchange stations. Many proposals have been proposed to connect Bradford’s train terminals. The substantial renovation of the city centre in the 1960s presented a chance to connect the termini; however, this did not occur with big buildings erected along the intended line of route in the 1990s.
Air
Leeds Bradford Airport is located 6 miles (9.7 kilometres) north of the city. Bradford and Leeds municipalities collaborated to open the airport in 1931. It is the headquarters of Jet2.com airlines. In May 2007, the combined councils sold the airport to Bridgepoint Capital for £145.5 million, with the business investing £70 million in airport enhancements and expecting to grow passenger usage to over 7 million by 2015.
