Bus and rail public transport in Belfast have services linking residential districts with the city centre on 12 quality bus corridors running along main radial roads.
Northern Ireland Railways provides suburban services along three lines running through Belfast’s northern suburbs to Carrickfergus, Larne and Larne Harbour, eastwards towards Bangor and south-westwards towards Lisburn and Portadown.
Belfast has a direct rail connection with Dublin but has no rail services to cities in the United Kingdom due to the lack of a bridge or tunnel connections.
The city has 2 airports. Belfast International Airport, located northwest of the city, near Lough Neagh, offers domestic and international flights.
The George Best Belfast City Airport is closer to the city centre by train from Sydenham and offers United Kingdom domestic flights and international flights.
Belfast has a port used to ship goods and passenger ferry services. Stena Line runs regular routes to Cairnryan in Scotland using its conventional vessels. Stena Line also operates a route to Liverpool.
